Name: Trice Patterson
Job Title: Editor
Before coming to VIA, what was the most interesting or unusual job you ever had? For years, I assisted architectural photographer Jeffrey Jacobs. We did tons of traveling, saw so many incredible spaces, and created truly remarkable images using an unconventional method of lighting. Never have I used more lighting instruments on a single photograph in my life!
Your desk: messy or organized? Fair to say messy, but I can usually find what I’m looking for.
Travel spot? Horn Island off the coast of Mississippi. The most beautiful of the Gulf’s barrier islands.
Favorite restaurant? I’ve eaten at lots of incredible places, but The Warehouse Bistro in Opelika, AL still holds the number one spot.
Something in your refrigerator right now: My wife makes a mean shrimp and grits, and there are some leftovers!
What book did you last read? “Llama Llama Red Pajama” If you have a one year old, you’ll understand.
What’s the one super power you would choose if you could? The ability to stop time would be nice. In a profession where everything needs to be delivered yesterday, I feel like that could help.
Best piece of advice you ever received: “Always do the next right thing.” This has been a mantra of mine for the last several years, and seems to offer the best results when applied to challenging dilemmas.
Where have you lived? I grew up in the small town of Rutherford, TN and moved to Memphis for college.
What’s your favorite thing to do in Memphis?Boating on the river particularly during sunset. Haven’t found a more magical way to experience Memphis.
